About this time last year, Marvel and ABC began talking about a possible spin off show starring Adrianne Paliki’s, Bobbi Morse (aka Mockingbird) and Nick Blood’s, Lance Hunter. In wasn’t long before we were told that ABC decided not to order a pilot episode for the show, but, like almost everything else in the Mouse House, good ideas don’t ever go away.
Last Fall, it was announced that ABC changed their mind and ordered the pilot now with the name “Marvel Most Wanted.” Since then, news about the new show has been sparse, but it’s beginning to pick up speed.
We now know that, along with Paliki and Blood, the show will also feature Delroy Lindo who will play Dominic Fortune and Fernanda Andrade (Red Widow) who will play his niece, Christina Santos. Oded Fehr (Covert Affairs) will also be joining the show as an as of yet unnamed but well known Marvel character.
The current synopsis of the show is:
Centering on Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., two ex-spies and ex-spouses who are on the run with no friends, no S.H.I.E.L.D. and a long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads. Able to trust no one but each other, Bobbi and Hunter form an uneasy alliance with Dominic Fortune, a rogue adventurer with a wealth of resources and even more adversaries, who agrees to protect them so long as they help him with his own agenda. These two heroes will help anyone in need, all while trying to uncover the conspiracy that put their own lives in jeopardy.
The Distinguished Competition over at the CW has done a great job of creating multiple shows that interact with
each other and I’m sure Marvel is wanting to do a similar thing with these shows. Agent Carter, while appearing in flashbacks on Agents of SHIELD, is not a true spin off. Marvel’s Most Wanted could open up new realms of storytelling for ABC and Marvel.
Are you looking forward to Marvel’s Most Wanted?
I was confused for a second by the tag for Fernanda Andrade, since Red Widow is an actual Marvel character. I didn’t realize it was a show until the tag for Oded Fehr. Would be awesome to have Red Widow, but may be worth trying to make it clear that isn’t who she is playing, just a previous show she was in.
