Toy Story Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Now that we know Star Wars land is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the other shoe has dropped for the park. Toy Story Land will be coming soon. The attractions will be targeted at the 4-11 yr old demographic, filling a very big need for the park.

Among the attractions are a Slinky Dog Coaster and a Buzz Lightyear UFO ride (twin spinners with roofs so they’ll run in the rain). The Slinky Dog coaster will fit the family friendly theme as it zips, zooms, and plunges around the new land. The Buzz Lightyear UFO spinner will also feature the little green aliens from the movies. The music, lighting and sound effects add to the flurry of action, while “The Claw” looms over the duo-spinners. It looks like the entrance for Toy Story Midway Mania will be moved and rethemed to fit in new land.

I’m trying to interpret the concept art shown at D23 Expo. It looks like Toy Story land will be set at the end of the Streets of America, basically taking over the spot where Backlot Tour used to run (and it looks like it will spell the end of Light’s Motor’s Action too.

Update: Looking at a larger version of the concept art, It looks like the new Toy Story Land will be essentially behind where Toy Story Midway Mania is now. This is largely a backstage area now, but also includes the former Backlot Tour sets and out buildings.

This is a developing story. This post will be updated as news comes in.

  1. I think this is great news! One of the biggest bumpers about DHS was that there were only 2 rides my 2 year old could go on. I know most people want the big coasters, and I love them too, but it will be nice for families with little ones to have a place too.

  2. I just hope Disney does a better job with this in Florida than they did at Disney Studios Paris. The Toy Story section of DSP is terrible. It’s like a cheap traveling carnival that set up in a theme park. It’s only made worse by being next to Ratatouille land, which is phenomenal.
