New Zootopia Concept art from Disney Animation

One year from today, Walt Disney Animation Studios will debut it’s first of two animated features in 2016 – Zootopia. To mark the occaision, they shared some new concept art with us.

They also released this description:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods, like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together – a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.

This looks fantastic and amazing. Can we have this in Disney’s Animal Kingdom tomorrow please?

  1. Took the words right out of my mouth with the last AK comment. Couldn’t agree more.
The art for Zootopia looks exactly what the AK concept art should have looked like from the beginning(is that even a monorail I see in the pic?). Very very cool designs.

And think of it this way. If Disney is lucky enough to strike gold twice, and this is anywhere near as successful as Frozen, Animal Kingdom will have new fresh faces for its park, new standing line only meet and greets, new themes and music and colors to add, and heck, since Frozen got one at Epcot, perhaps even a new ride at AK.

I’ve said for a while, Zootopia has me far more intrigued than any of Pixar’s next 2 offerings…..
