Sounds Like Summer Concert Lineup for EPCOT

Stayin-Alive-epcot

Believe it or not, it’s almost time for yet another festival at EPCOT – Sounds Like Summer tribute band concert series. Classic hits U2, The Bee Gees, The Police, and many more will entertain guests with a blast from the past. As usual, the performances take place at the open-air America Gardens Theatre in World Showcase. Although I have to wonder if the Future World stage wouldn’t be a better place where more guests could see and enjoy the performance (no shade or benches, I know.)

This festival is pretty minor compared to the Food and Wine and Flower and Garden festivals, but for fans of tribute bands, it’s something to mark on your calendar. I actually think Disney could do a better job promoting this by just building up a little more around it. Perhaps tie-it in with a BBQ around the world theme or retro-weekends where each country celebrates a summer holiday?

The schedule (entertainment subject to change without notice):

June 9 to 15: Stayin’ Alive ~ A Tribute to the Bee Gees
June 16 to 22: Hotel California ~ A Salute to the Eagles
June 23 to 29: Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot ~ The Ultimate Billy Joel Tribute Show
June 30 to July 6: Slippery When Wet ~ The Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute
July 7 to 13: SouthBound and Company ~ A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd
July 14 to 20: The Police Experience ~ A Tribute to The Police
July 21 to 27: 2U ~ A Tribute to U2

Show times are 5:30, 6:45 and 8:00 p.m. – except on July 4 when show times are 5:15, 6:30, 7:45 and 9 p.m.

Any of these a great, but my favorites from previous years were Hotel California and 2U. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. How do you feel about tribute bands? Should Disney do more to expand this into a full festival?
