U.S. Soldier Returns from Afghanistan to Surprise Family with Walt Disney World Reunion

Walt Disney World is known as a place where families can have a great time together. But what happens if time, distance and service to one’s country keeps them apart? Well, sometimes magic happens. That was the case when the children of SPC Scott Halquist of St. Cloud, FL got more than a patriotic concert by the Voices of Liberty Wednesday at the American Adventure pavilion at Epcot.

After the popular choral group had finished, Halquist was announced as a surprise special guest — to the wide-eyed delight of his kids Joshua 2; Jack 7; and Grace 8. Scott’s wife Amy, working with Walt Disney World Resort, helped arrange the homecoming surprise for their kids.

SPC Halquist returned after a 10-month tour of duty in Afghanistan. The reunited family has 2 weeks together before Halquist returns to Afghanistan for 45 days. Halquist’s specialty is medical support in the war zone, tending to the most critical patients.

On Patriot’s Day, The Disney Blog wants to thank all those who have dedicated themselves to serve and protect these united states. We wish all of you could have magic moments like the one above.
