D-Tech Me Technology Returns to Disney World For Princesses

Remember when everyone geeked out over the ability to have a one of a kind souvenir of yourself encased in carbonite at Star Wars Weekends? No one thought it was particularly weird to want it either. Disney is now using the same D-Tech Me technology to have your little girl captured forever in the form of a Disney Princess. I have to tell you the idea of having your little girl forever in the form of a princess doll leaves me feeling a little creeped out. Perhaps it’s just the soft look of these promotional photos. I don’t know. If this is your thing, don’t let my reservations deter you.

Families with girls between the ages of 3-12 can report to the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney to live out their princess dreams by placing their likeness on a three-dimensional 7-inch Disney Princess figurine keepsake!

The experience takes around 10-minute while several cameras instantly capture multiple angles of a guest’s face which are then reconstructed and used to make the final figure. The “princess in waiting” can choose one of seven different Disney Princesses including Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Tiana. Hair, skin and eye color of the figurine are customized to match the guest. The guest of honor will also receive a Princess silver link necklace with choice of colored gem charm. The process of finishing the figure takes about five to six weeks at which time the completed figurine is then shipped directly to the guest’s home.

Each seven-inch Princess figurine is $99.95 (plus $15.95 shipping. Canadian and International shipping begins at $75.00). Guests can order additional replica seven-inch figurines for $74.95 each or a three-inch replica for $39.95. No discounts will be offered. Disney says reservations are strongly recommended for this limited time experience and can be made by calling 407-WDW-TECH (407-939-8324).

A few restrictions from Disney: Guests must be between 3-12 years of age to participate. Children must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age or older during the entire experience. A valid accepted credit card number is required at time of booking. No-shows or in the event a reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of scheduled experience will result in such credit card being charged a $25 cancellation fee. The experience, due to its personalized nature is non-refundable and not eligible for an exchange. Certain restrictions apply. All prices, components and information are subject to change or cancellation without notice.

  1. Oh gosh that’s creepy. Seriously, if I had that in my house I would have nightmares. I like the carbonite thing but Disney, why are you doing this? Just why?

  2. Hi I just wanted to add that we did do this for my 7 year girl and she loved it but when i went to go pay they didn’t inform me that the cost to ship it to canada was $75.00. Not one cast member informed me what the shipping cost was. So trying not to disappoint my daughter we got suckered in to getting it. Plus today I just received a bill from fedex stating that i have to pay additional duty of $15.12. I’m extremely pissed off. So what was the 75.00 dollars for?
