Jeremy Jordan heading back to Newsies?

Normally, I don’t like to wish ill will on any artistic endeavor, especially a Broadway production. Getting one of those off the ground is difficult for even the best productions and sometimes they fail just under the weight of bad economic times having nothing to do with the show or the performers itself. That said, I’m sure that many Disney fans will join me in being happy to hear the news that ‘Bonnie & Clyde‘ has closed.

The reason is that the Clyde in that production was Jeremy Jordan who had been in rehearsals for the that show while performing as Jack Kelly in the Paper Mill Theater launch of Disney’s Newsies The Musical. The NY Times is now reporting that Jordan pretty much let it slip that the closure of Clyde means that he’ll be returning as Kelly when Newsies opens for its 100 show run on Broadway this spring.

If you want to buy tickets for Newsies, you’d better pick them up early. Jordan is a rising talent that has the sort of star power that will fill those seats if he’s in the lead. Newsies fans, does this news inspire you to seize the day, or what?
