The Next-Gen project currently being worked on for Walt Disney World is rumored to feature a mobile device that will over lay a new experience on top of the existing theme park. This is a form of Augmented Reality and it’s a growing field for gamers, information providers, and marketers. Disney being all three of the above should naturally be a leader in the field.
Turns out they are. The Future Digital Life blog has a recent post looking at three things Disney does with AR that the rest of the community can learn from. The Kim Possible game is one example of how location based gaming can be a blast.
I personally hope that Next-Gen makes heavy use of AR in all three areas. Give use more location based gaming, better and more personalized information, and marketing we can us (on the spot discounts or coupons).

I agree, Disney could do a lot, but also make it compatible with most smart phones: iPhone, Android and Blackberry at least. They seem to like to leave out the iPhone a lot. Oh, also let AT&T improve their network at Disneyland.
