Some more details on the three bidders for Miramax as well as some possible directions for its future. As it turns out the Weinstein brothers may have a leg up in the bid even if their bid is not quite as large as the others.
The Weinsteins have had extra leverage in the current bidding because of a separation agreement under which Disney granted them extensive rights to acquire projects from the Miramax development pool and to produce, co-finance and co-distribute sequels to some of the company’s most profitable film series, including those based on “Scream,” “Scary Movie,” “Spy Kids,” “Halloween,” and “The Amityville Horror.”
Interesting, one of those films could possibly be called a ‘Disney film’. I am pulling for Bob and Harvey myself.
You mean Scream, right John?
