It has to do with Disney’s opposition to the proposed permanent housing in the Anaheim Resort district.
Details after the jump (I get a little political again).
I wrote before on this issue. Disney is suing to block Anaheim approval of permanent housing in the Anaheim Resort district.
I just got a call from someone explaining that they had two questions for me. They asked if I was aware of this lawsuit, and they asked me what I though about it. I could tell by the phrasing of the questions, it is an effort to raise support for the housing and counter Disney.
I explain my views in the linked post. As I told the caller, I think Disney has every right to tell someone else what to do with their property as long as we allow others to tell Disney what to do with its property. I doubt Disneyland Resort officials would care all that much about permanent housing going in next door IF… ***IF*** Disney wouldn’t have to face subsequent opposition by those very residents for its one developments.
You can’t have it both ways. If a City Council can tell property owners what they can and can’t do with their properties, then the most powerful influencers who can sway that City Council are going to win – in general. Solution? Guarantee Disney it can do what it wants with its own property in exchange for letting the housing proposal go forward.
