Bruno Kirby remembered

  • by

It is with great sadness that I report on the passing of Bruno Kirby (imdb). He died after a short battle with Leukemia at the age of 57. Kirby’s work with the Disney company was short. He played ‘Stanley’ in the 1973 movie "Superdad". It starred Kurt Russell and Bob Crane (Hogan’s Heros) about a dad who tried to win back his daughter’s love through a bunch of stupid stunts. If you hunt you can find this movie on VHS.

Bruno Kirby was best known for his roles as Billy Crystal’s friend in When Harry Met Sally and City Slickers. You may also remember him as the strict and unintentionally funny Lt. Steven Hauk in Good Morning Vietnam. I also remember his roles in The Freshman with Marlon Brando and Matthew Broderick and Donnie Braso with Johhny Depp and Al Pacino. But that just touches on his great career.

Kirby, you were a true talent and will be missed. My condolonces to his friends and family.

More at this AP Story and a short blog post on The Orlando Sentinel.
