A new one sheet for Winnie The Pooh has been released:
They’re definitely going for less is more with this poster. Also interesting are some of the names that have been attached as voice actors. Craig Ferguson, ruler of the late night talk show, and Huell Howser, who is best known for the public TV show “California’s Gold,” are interesting additions. I do like the idea of having John Cleese as narrator.

I was at the Magic Kingdom early Saturday morning with my son making our usual rounds. Since the new interactive play queue for Winnie The Pooh opened, one of my son’s favorite things to do has been to get in some quality play time before the queue gets too busy. Going on the ride is actually a bit secondary to enjoying the queue, at least until the newness wears off.
As it turns out there was already a small line for the standby queue and just as we walked up, a cast member was moving aside the trees that just the day before had blocked entrance to the Tigger’s Bouncy Place section of the queue. Based on reports online, it seems like this is just a ‘soft-open’ for that section of the queue and it may or may not be open when you visit.
Looking closely at the bounce pads, it appears Disney has done some work on each one adjusting the spring mechanism to provide a stiffer spring and a shallower dip. Each pad is surrounded by new soft ground that doesn’t quite match the color of the other ground that was laid when the queue was built.

My wife took the kid to the Magic Kingdom today and reported that parts of the new queue for Winnie-The-Pooh attraction were open today. The queue is part of Imagineering’s attempt to make waiting in line less like waiting and more like fun. This is achieved primarily through the addition of interactive elements and new ideas about the flow of the queue. Initial results from Pooh indicated they have achieved the fun part, but the jury is out if it will stand up to the quirks of guest behavior.

Earlier today I posted details of the Winnie The Pooh animated feature scheduled for 2011. Now the first trailer has been released. What do you think?
In the recent thread on Disney parks merchandise someone noted that it’s been years since Disney has done a feature film starring Mickey Mouse. So it’s no wonder that today’s youth is not acquainted with him. I think they’re forgetting Mickey Clubhouse on Disney Channel. Which was a good attempt to re-introduce Mickey. But it still hasn’t show cased him as the big star that we know he is.
The same thing can be said for Winnie The Pooh. He had a Disney Channel Show, which was really a mis-guided attempt to remake the lovable bear by excluding his best friend. But now Disney is bringing back Christopher Robin, and Pooh’s other forest friends, for a feature length movie.
The “Winnie the Pooh” movie features hand-drawn 2D animation. It appears to be very true to the original character designs if these frames from the movie are accurate. One of the best pieces of news is that the score and songs for the film are being written by Bobby and Kristen Lopez, who turned Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” into a stage musical (which I love!). “Winnie the Pooh” hits theaters July 15, 2011.
