The Grand Reef – SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove Expansion Coming this June


SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove promises a new level of immersion in an undersea environment.

If you’ve ever been to SeaWorld Orlando’s Discovery Cove boutique park, then you know what an incredible experience it is. Those who haven’t yet been, may not realize what a great value the all-inclusive retreat provides the Orlando visitor. That experience and value is soon to be expanded as the all-new area called “The Grand Reef” will be opening in June of 2011.


Most of the animals coming to the Grand Reef will be moved from the existing reef experience. That area will be closed to design a new experience.

SeaWorld Orlando starts The Polar Express Tomorrow

Disney isn’t the only company in town doing things up for the Holidays. SeaWorld Orlando has started rolling out their holiday offerings with the The Polar Express experience beginning Friday, November 12.

At Wild Arctic, guests can climb aboard The Polar Express Experience and take an train ride to the North Pole. Classic scenes from The Polar Express movie are recreated in a multi-sensory experience that immerses passengers in special lighting, scents, sounds and motion effects. When guests arrive at the North Pole, they’ll discover a winter wonderland surrounded by holiday cheer and amazing animal encounters.

SeaWorld baby Killer Whale is a boy

Earlier today on their facebook page, SeaWorld Orlando announced that the Killer Whale born on Oct 9th to Katina is a boy. The video below explains why it can sometimes take a long time to narrow down the choices to just one.

SeaWorld says they’ll be holding a naming contest to name the baby Orca in the near future. In the meantime you can visit the pair at Shamu stadium.

Meanwhile on the other coast, SeaWorld San Diego has a baby too… this time an ultra cute baby Emperor Penguin. Video of it being introduced to other penguins is below the jump:
