The non-Disney Stores

The Children’s Place is one step closer to buying the once proud and vibrant chain of Disney Stores. The Disney Stores used to be known for providing a little bit of the Disney Magic via a cadre of highly trained employees (er Cast Members), a cache of unique Disney merchandise, and access to collectibe art and merchandise without having to visit one of the theme parks. Paul Pressler, who failed so miserably as President of Disneyland, led the charge of the Disney stores from 75 outlets to over 600. Tivoli Gardens and Walt

Michael Barrier, whose series on Disney in Europe I’ve linked to previously, has posted the fourth column in the series. This time he explores Tivoli Gardens, how it looks today, what Walt might have seen, and how Disneyland and Tivoli are both similar and dissimilar. There’s a great photo of Walt at Tivoli Gardens in… Read More »Tivoli Gardens and Walt

Here’s a sad story of an eight year old boy found alone at Disneyland. Apparently his mother and sister have gone missing too. As a kid I always dreamed of getting left at Disneyland and having the whole park to myself. As an adult, I can see that the reality is not always so good.… Read More »An Odd Sad Story

People Watching

When I lived in Southern California I used to goto Disneyland on the average of 3.5 times a week. (3.54 actually, but who’s counting.) I was frequently asked what I did there. Well, I hung out with friends, watch the shows, and even occaisionally rode some attractions. A significant portion of time was spent people… Read More »People Watching

New Disneyland Fireworks Show Test

One of the many perks of working the last shift at Disneyland is that by the time all the guests have left the park you get to see some of the new entertainment in rehearsal. The Main Street Electrical Parade used to have dress rehearsals… Read More »New Disneyland Fireworks Show Test

Nametags

Michael works at Disneyland. He loses his nametag and goes to get another one. Simple right? Guess again. I had a couple of requests: 1) That the nametag be put on a magnet. Doing this is great, so you do not have to punch a… Read More »Nametags
