The New York Times has an interesting article on the musical promotion of Disney’s upcoming film based on the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis. They’ve released an album of songs inspired by the movie, but so far no soundtrack. Apparently this has something to do with aiming for the religous audience.
I think they’re forgetting their core base here. That being the legion of fantasy fans who made the Lord of The Rings series so successful. All this talk about special screenings, special soundtracks, etc for the religous groups might leave the usual fantasy fan feeling like the unwanted stepchild. (via)
