After a delayed start due to the writers and actors strikes, ABC is premiering the new seasons of “Will Trent,” “The Rookie,” and “The Good Doctor” on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
All three show’s episodes will also be available to stream on Hulu the next day.
Will Trent
In its second season, “Will Trent” moves from the 10pm ET slot to the 8pm ET ABC slot on Tuesdays.
Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling “Will Trent” series, Special Agent Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system.
Now, Will uses his unique point of view in the pursuit of justice and has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.
The series also stars Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood. And Belle the chihuaua plays Trent’s companian Betty.
In the first two episodes of season 2, Clark Gregg (Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) guests as Arthur Highsmith, an accountant who gets caught up in a bad situation and tries to skip town.
The Rookie
In its sixth season, “The Rookie” moves from 8pm ET to 9pm ET on ABC, following “Will Trent.”
John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), once the oldest rookie in the LAPD, has used his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior.
In the new season, Nolan feels like it can’t get much better, now that his life with Bailey (Jenna Dewan) is moving forward, and he has chosen his career path. However, he and his team must grapple with the aftermath of their recent assaults before they can move forward.
The second episode of season six marks the show’s 100th episode, and Nolan and Bailey’s wedding day will be the anchor of the episode, according to showrunner Alex Hawley, who spoke about the episode at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Apparently “The Curse of the Last Shift” that precedes Officer Nolan’s big day with bride-to-be Bailey will prove not to be trifled with.
“Nolan doesn’t believe in it, of course,” Hawley explained, but “Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) can’t stop bringing it up, because she’s superstitious — and then it all goes wrong.
In addition to Fillion, Dewan, and Chavez, the series stars Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Wade Grey, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers, and Tru Valentino as Aaron Thorsen.
The Good Doctor
Tuesday nights on ABC will now be the home for the seventh and final season of “The Good Doctor,” which will air at 10pm ET following “Will Trent” and “The Rookie.”
In the farewell season of “The Good Doctor,” new challenges intermingle with the unresolved past.
Following the birth of their son, Steve, Shaun (Freddie Highmore) and Lea (Paige Spara) navigate the joys and challenges of parenthood. Meanwhile, the team continues to deal with the many changes they have faced at the hospital over the past year and must learn to come to terms with them if they want to move forward in their lives and careers.
“We get to plan a great finale and do something the fans will love,” said EP Liz Friedman at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. During the panel, she wouldn’t budge on what to expect from the final episodes, including which former cast members may or may not return.
In addition to Highmore and Spara, the series stars Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman, Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim, Bria Samoné Henderson as Dr. Jordan Allen, Noah Galvin as Dr. Asher Wolke, and Chuku Modu as Dr. Jared Kalu.
