Disney Channel has announced its longest-running live-action series, “Bunk’d,” will end its run with the conclusion of its current seventh season.
The Details
Season 7 of “Bunk’d” premiered on July 23, with the 12-episode Part 1 wrapping its run on Disney Channel on December 1, 2023.
That block of episodes also included the series’ milestone 150th episode in September.
Originally the season was scheduled for 20 episodes, but with news of the cancellation, Disney Channel is giving the series two extra episodes to wrap up the stories.
Following the resolution of the writer and SAG-AFTRA strikes this year, work has resumed on the final ten episodes, which are scheduled to air sometime in 2024.
“With a fantastic cast of characters and hilarious and heartful storylines, it’s no wonder Bunk’d has been one of Disney Channel’s longest-running and successful live-action series,” Ayo Davis, President, Disney Branded Television, said in a statement. “We’d like to thank our talented cast, creative team and crew for bringing tremendous joy and laughter to kids for seven incredible seasons.”
The Series
“Bunk’d” launched on July 31, 2015, as a spinoff of the popular Disney Channel series “Jessie” when Ross siblings Emma (Peyton List), Ravi (Karan Brar) and Zuri (Skai Jackson) left their New York penthouse to embark on more adventures at Camp Kikiwaka, a rustic summer camp in Maine.
List, Brar and Jackson left the series after after Season 3 when the comedy underwent a creative overhaul.
Season six, titled “BUNK’D: Learning the Ropes,” begins as Lou Hockhauser (Miranda May), Parker Preston (Trevor Tordjman), Destiny Baker (Mallory James Mahoney), and Noah Lambert (Israel Johnson) arrive at the soon-to-be Kikiwaka Ranch in Dusty Tush, Wyoming, where Lou must convince the surly owner, a.k.a. “The Marshal” to officially sell the property to her.
Meanwhile, counselors Noah and Destiny have their hands full with the newly arrived campers, including Bill (Alfred Lewis), a no-nonsense descendant of a famous cowboy who prefers roping cattle to hanging out with friends; Winnie (Shiloh Verrico), a fearless girl who’s earned the nickname “Wild Winnie” by breaking the rules and occasionally blowing things up; and Jake (Luke Busey), a laid-back, easy-going boy who also happens to be a video-gaming fanatic.
And that’s the story going into what is now the final season.
