Following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, casts are heading back to work on ABC scripted series, and the network has announced the fall season premiere dates have been pushed to what would normally be considered midseason.
The Details
ABC announced its 2024 midseason premiere dates, featuring a lineup of high-stakes dramas, fan-favorite comedies, unscripted series and informative news hours
Midseason show premieres start on Monday, January 22, 2024, with a new season of “The Bachelor” featuring new contestant Joey Graziadei. This will be followed by a limited-run “20/20” special about the most shocking love crimes of all time (eight episodes total).
Fan-favorite comedies “The Conners” (season 6) and “Not Dead Yet” (season 2) debut Wednesday, February 7, followed by a special one-hour premiere of the Emmy Award-winning “Abbott Elementary” (season 3). Unscripted courtroom comedy series “Judge Steve Harvey” rounds out the Wednesday lineup.
The musical competition series “American Idol” premieres its seventh season on ABC Sunday, February 18. It’s followed by ABC News’ “What Would You Do?” making its return to primetime and reintroducing the iconic hidden camera show to viewers.
The Tuesday drama line-up returns starting Tuesday, February 20 with “Will Trent” (season 2) and “The Rookie” (season 6). This season, “The Good Doctor” (season 7) gets bumped from Mondays to Tuesdays to fill the void left by the cancellation of “The Rookie: Feds.”
Saved from its cancellation by FOX, firefighter drama “9-1-1” will debut it’s seventh season on ABC on Thursday, March 14th, to be followed by Shondaland shows “Grey’s Anatomy” (season 20!) and fellow firefighter drama, “Station 19” (season 7).
