“Rogers: The Musical” has been a popular show at Disney California Adventure since it started earlier this summer, but apparently Disneyland has decided not to extend its run.
The Details
“Rogers: The Musical” first debuted at the Hyperion Theater inside Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort on June 30, 2023.
The theatrical production originally appeared in an episode of the Disney+ series “Hawkeye,” as a musical about the “Battle of New York” that occured in the original “Avengers” movie.
For Disneyland, the musical concept was enlarged with extra songs into a 35-minute one-act production for guests, and it has been a popular show since it opened.
But Disney always intended this to be a limited-time production for the summer, as part of the Disney100 celebration, and it looks like it will end on the original date of August 31, 2023.
So if you want to see “Rogers: The Musical”…or see it again…you have 10 days left before the theater goes dark on the show.
What Next?
At the moment, nothing new is scheduled to replace the musical in the Hyperion Theater.
Disney says it took six months to prepare this production for its Disneyland debut, so unless they’ve been working on something in secret, it’s highly unlikely anything new will be moving into the 2,000-seat theater before the end of this year.
Disneyland also has not posted any Hyperion acting roles to the Disney Auditions website, which is typically the first sign a new show is in the works.
Before “Rogers: The Musical,” the Hyperion Theater sat dark for three years following the park’s pandemic closure in 2020.
In the past, the Hyperion, which opened with the park in 2001, has been home to shortened one-act versions of “Frozen” and “Aladdin.”
