To mark Percy Jackson’s birthday today, Disney+ has released a new teaser for the upcoming original series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” along with the revealing the series’ premiere date.


The Date

Disney+ will debut “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” based on the best-selling book series by author Rick Riordan, on December 20, 2023.

The series will premiere with the first two episodes, with the remaining episodes airing one per week.


The Trailer

We get glimpses of Percy and other characters interspersed with the words “The Gods are waiting,” appearing on the screen.

Then a mystery voice says, “Percy Jackson…we’ve been expecting you!”

The Series

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” follows the titular 12-year old demi-god (Walker Scobell) who is just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers as the son of Poseidon (Toby Stephens) when the sky god Zeus (Lance Reddick) accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.

With help from his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

Others cast in recurring or guest roles, include Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Timm Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, and Charlie Bushnell, along with recent additions like Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Duplass, and Timothy Omundson.
