20th Century Studios has released the first trailer for “A Haunting in Venice,” the third Agatha Christie adaptation from actor-filmmaker Kenneth Branagh, who once again plays Inspector Hercule Poirot.

The Movie

“A Haunting in Venice” is based on the 1969 Agatha Christie novel “Hallowe’en Party,” and is set in an eerie post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve.

Hercule Poirot, now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

The film, which stars Branagh as the famed detective Poirot, also features a brilliant acting ensemble portraying a cast of unforgettable characters including Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Michelle Yeoh.

It is the follow-up to 2017’s “Murder on the Orient Express” and 2022’s “Death on the Nile,” which were also Agatha Christie stories adapted by Branagh for 20th Century Studios.

“A Haunting in Venice” arrives theaters on September 15, 2023.
