If you binged the first season of the award-winning FX series “The Bear,” you won’t have much longer until you can do the same for the second season, which just got a release date in June 2023.
The Details
In a message posted to show’s social media, the second season of the FX series will debut exclusively on Hulu on June 22, 2023. Disney+ UK has announced it will also debut the new season on July 19, 2023.
Season 2 will be available on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories at a later date.
For those of you who do like to binge the show, you’ll be happy to hear that all 10 episodes of the second season will drop at once. That’s two more episodes than season one, too.
Actress Molly Gordon (“Animal Kingdom”) will join the cast in the new season. Details regarding Gordon’s character remain under wraps, though FX confirms it is a key recurring role.
Also joining the show for the second season is actor Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) in a guest-starring role.
According to the synopsis from FX, season 2 follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they “work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot.”
“As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.”
The series also stars Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, Corey Hendrix, Matty Matheson, Richard Esteras, and Jose M. Cervantes, with Edwin Lee Gibson and Oliver Platt in recurring roles.
The Series
“The Bear” debuted on June 23, 2022, and the series tells the story of Berzatto (White), a young chef from the fine dining world, who comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland, after a heartbreaking death of his brother.
Unfortunately his brother left behind debts, a rundown kitchen, and an unruly staff to contend with all of which is left to Berzatto to deal with.
Viewers quickly took to the show, and the critics were also enamored.
The series was honored as an AFI TV Program of the Year in its first season, as well as receiving a WGA Award, PGA Award, Film Independent Spirit Award, American Cinema Editors Award, and ACE Eddie Award.
White also won the comedy acting award from the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and Critics Choice Awards.
