Soon Walt Disney World cast members will be sporting new bling in the form of pixie dusted new cast member nametags, and Disney has offered a first look at them.
The Details
For Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, cast members were given special EARidescent nametags to reflect the occasion, but with the celebration ending March 31, 2023, it’s time for those nametags to be retired.
Now, cast members could just return to the previous regular design, but Walt Disney World took the opportunity to design a new nametag.
Disney says the new design features a gold star above the castle, representing Cast Members as the guiding light for The Most Magical Place on Earth.
When To Spot Them
Following the end of the 50th anniversary, cast members were told to keep wearing the EARidescent nametags a little longer, as the new cast member nametags were mailed out to everyone. Cast members should receive them between now and May 13, as they were mailed in batches.
Disney now says cast members will officially begin wearing the new nametags together on May 16, 2023.
The only exceptions will be cast members who wear themed nametags to their location, such aw those as assigned to work in “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” and “Pandora – The World of Avatar.” They’ll still get a new nametag, but will continue to wear their themed nametags.
A Message From Jeff Vahle
Jeff Vahle, president of Walt Disney World, sent a message to cast members about the nametags:
Hello, team!
Over the course of my career with Disney, I’ve worn many nametags. Each one represents different experiences and roles. Still, all of them share the same level of importance.
To our Guests, our nametags are an invitation to say, “Hello.” A nametag lets Guests know that we are Cast Members, and we are here to make their day magical. To us Cast Members, our nametags mean even more. They remind us of special moments over the years, the pride of being a Cast Member and a reminder to keep Walt’s dream alive.
Earlier this year, we wrapped up The Most Magical Celebration on Earth with great pride. Our 50th anniversary nametags will always be a reminder of the magic made during this celebration. As we look to the future, I hope you will wear your new nametag in honor of the magic you have yet to experience, the memories you will soon make and the lives of Guests you will surely change.
I am proud to wear my nametag because it reflects the many reasons why being a Cast Member is so special. I’ve heard from several Cast Members about what it means to them, and I have loved the responses. Some have said it represents dreams coming true or being a part of a team, to others it displays their ability to make magic. No matter what your nametag means to you, it is essential to being a Cast Member.
