Disney+ Cancels ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ After One Season

National Treasure: Edge of History

The hunt for treasure is over as “National Treasure: Edge of History” has been cancelled by Disney+ after only one season.

The Series

“National Treasure: Edge of History” was a continuation of the “National Treasure” movie franchise, and centered on young heroine Jess (Lisette Olivera), a DREAMer in search of answers about her family who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.

Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones co-starred as Billie, a billionaire, black-market antiquities expert, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code.

Season 1 also featured guest appearances by “National Treasure” film stars Justin Bartha (as Riley Poole) and Harvey Keitel (as Peter Sadusky) reprising their characters.

Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker and Lyndon Smith also starred in the series executive produced by the films’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Jon Turteltaub and writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley.

The Cancellation

The cancellation news comes two months after the release of the Season 1 finale, which aired February 8, 2023.

The series is still available to watch on Disney+, along with the two “National Treasure” films, which starred Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, and Justin Bartha.

It’s been a rough time at Disney+ for original series, as the streaming service recently cancelled “The Mysterious Benedict Society,” along with the John Stamos series “Big Shot,” and “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” after two seasons each.
