Star Wars Celebration Europe kicked off with a flurry of news on Friday, including the release of the first teaser trailer for Ahsoka, and a date the new Star Wars series will hit Disney+.
The Details
Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano, and it will debut on Disney+ in August 2023 (exact date TBA).
The character first appeared in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Voiced by Ashley Eckstein, she evolved from a headstrong student of Anakin Skywalker to a formidable warrior and leader, all before leaving the Jedi Order.
Ahsoka would return in the Star Wars Rebels animated series, where she joined forces with the Ghost crew of rebels (including Sabine and Hera), and dueled her fallen master.
Dawson first portrayed Ahsoka Tano in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian, subtitled “The Jedi,” where Din Djarin had sought her out in the hopes that she would train his ward, Grogu, in the ways of the Force.
While remaining an ally and friend, she declined in order to continue her own mission to locate Grand Admiral Thrawn.
At Star Wars Celebration Europe, Dawson unveiled a poster for the series, and was then joined onstage by co-stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Mary Elizabeth Winstead to introduce the teaser trailer.
The series is written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Karen Gilchrist serves as a co-executive producer.
The Trailer
This first look at Ahsoka, set after the fall of the Empire, features pivotal shots of Ahsoka in battle against droids, characters wielding red-bladed lightsabers, Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly), a lightsaber-wielding Sith Lord adversary named Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson), his acolyte Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), a rear-shot of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), and the ancient droid Huyang (voiced by David Tennant).
We also get our first looks at Ahsoka’s Rebels crew: Sabine Wren (Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Winstead), and everyone’s favorite grumpy droid, Chopper.
“Something’s coming. Something dark,” Ahsoka says as the trailer opens. “I sense it.”

The Poster
The first poster released for Ahsoka features an artist rendering of Dawson as the character, and it’s very striking:
