The gang’s getting back together as actor Jon Bernthal confirms he will once again appear as The Punisher in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again.
The Details
If you were a fan of the Marvel series that ran on Netflix, you’ll remember Bernthal first played the Punisher, also known as Frank Castle, on that streamer’s Daredevil series, debuting the character during second season of the show in 2016.
He then went on to play the grieving father-turned-vigilante character for two seasons of his own show, Netflix’s The Punisher, which aired from 2017-19. Both seasons are currently available to watch on Disney+.
Bernthal is known to audiences from his breakout role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead, which he played for the first two seasons of the series.
He most recently appeared in the Showtime revival series American Gigolo, based on the 80s movie.

About Daredevil: Born Again
Written and executive produced by Covert Affairs creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the new series centers on Cox’s title character Daredevil, otherwise known by the name Matt Murdock, who is an attorney by day and crimefighter by night. The character has recently made cameos in Spider-man: No Way Home and the She-Hulk series.
Daredevil: Born Again takes its title from a landmark Daredevil storyline published in 1986, written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzuchelli, though word is the show will deviate from the comics quite a bit.
The series is planned to run 18 episodes, though it’s unknown if that is one big season or a more manageable 2 season run of 9 episodes each.
Daredevil: Born Again is slated for a Spring 2024 debut on Disney+.
It was big news for Marvel fans when it was announced that actor Charlie Cox would return as Daredevil in a new series, Daredevil: Born Again, and even bigger news when it was revealed Vincent D’Onofrio would once again take on the role of his adversary Kingpin, last seen in the Marvel Disney+ series Hawkeye.
And now we have Bernthal also returning as The Punisher. All we need now are Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as Luke Cage to make the move from Netflix to Disney+ complete.
