Walt Disney Studios has unveiled a new teaser trailer for its live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid,” beckoning viewers to become part of Ariel’s world.
The Trailer
This short 30 second trailer begins the new Disney100 logo for Walt Disney Studios before showing glimpses of Ariel (Halle Bailey) swimming while singing “Part of Your World.”
We also get a first quick glimpse of Flounder and Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King), and then at the end…the cackle of Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) and those eyes.
We get a much better feel for the movie than the first teaser that was released during D23 Expo last year.

About the Film
“The Little Mermaid” is a live-action remake of Disney’s hit animated 1989 film of the same name – which itself is based on a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.
Bailey stars as Ariel, daughter of King Triton (Javier Bardem) and a mermaid princess, who makes a bargain with the sea witch Ursala (McCarthy) in an attempt to become human and win the love of Prince Eric (Hauer-King).
It also stars Jessica Alexander, Noma Dumezweni, Jude Akuwudike, Lorena Andrea, Art Malik, and Kajsa Mohammar, and the voices of Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.
The film is directed by Rob Marshall (“Mary Poppins Returns“), and Disney Legend and original “Little Mermaid” composer Alan Menken teams up with the award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Encanto”) to come up with four new songs for the beloved soundtrack.
“The Little Mermaid” will be released in theaters May 26, 2023. We’ll let you know when tickets go on sale.
