Walt Disney World has announced the walking path between Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Magic Kingdom will temporarily close beginning Monday, February 13, 2023.
The Details
As Walt Disney World prepares to refurbish more guest rooms and buildings at Disney’s Grand Floridian, they are closing the walking path between the resort and Magic Kingdom for the safety of the Guests.
Guests staying at either Disney’s Grand Floridian or Disney’s Polynesian Village will not be able to walk to Magic Kingdom while the walkway is closed. If you need to get those extra steps in, you’ll have to do another lap around the park instead.
In the meantime, Guests can still take boat and monorail transportation to/from the resorts and Magic Kingdom. If you haven’t done the boat between the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom, you should at least once.
Disney says the walkway is expected to reopen late Spring 2023, so the closure will only be for a few months. When we hear of a reopening date, we’ll let you all know.
The Renovation
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa celebrates its 35th anniversary on July 1, 2023, and the resort has been receiving some sprucing up.
Guest rooms are currently being updated, and the ongoing renovation will also include an upcoming refurbishment of the lobby.
As part of the refurbishment that has been ongoing since March 1, 2022, a new DVC villas building opened last spring, and the Spa has reopened after a refurbishment.

Hi Ann! I wish I had better news for you, but according to Walt Disney World, Narcoossee’s “will return next year with an enhanced table-service experience.” So look for a 2024 re-opening. As soon as I get a solid date, I will post it.
