This is feeling a bit like deja vu, but Shanghai Disney Resort has announced it is reopen after yet another pandemic-related closure.
The Details
The latest closure occurred on November 29 this year, after only being open four days from a previous closure. The closure, as with the others, was due to COVID policies in China, but Shanghai Disney resort was able to reopen to guests yesterday, December 8.
The decision was made after Chinese authorities issued a new 10-point pandemic plan earlier this week that marked a sudden shift away from the country’s previous zero-COVID policy.
Shanghai Disney Resort said Shanghai Disneyland park would be open from 8:30am-8pm this weekend, and that its control measures “will be updated in accordance with the latest local government guidelines and guests should check and strictly follow them.”
They also stated select attractions, live entertainment, restaurants, and retail locations may not be available, or may operate at reduced capacity for a while.
As with the previous reopenings, there are still COVID policies in effect, including temperature checks, masks, social distancing, and more.
The park currently has a “Avatar: Explore Pandora” limited-time attraction, meant to help promote the new “Avatar: The Way of Water” film, which launches worldwide, including China, on December 16, so it’s very fortunate the park has reopened in time to help promote the film in the Chinese market.
