Six weeks out from its theatrical release, and a new trailer for “Avatar: The Way of Water” has been released, along with a new poster.
The Film
This sequel to the box office sensation “Avatar” is set more than a decade after the events of the first film.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), including the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
According to producer Jon Landau, all four planned sequels will be about Jake and Nyteri’s family. Each will be a standalone film, but part of a greater connected epic saga.
Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet.
“Avatar: The Way of the Water” will release in 160 languages worldwide starting December 14, and be released in the U.S. on December 16, 2022.
The Trailer
This new full-length trailer debuted on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and it transports viewers back to Pandora.
We’re reaquainted withe Jake Sully (Worthington) and Neytiri (Saldaña), plus we get to meet Sigourney Weaver’s new character, Kiri. Weaver’s character from the original movie, Dr. Grace Augustine, died at the end of that film.
There are so many beautiful shots of Pandora both above and below the water. This is definitely a film that needs to be seen in IMAX, RealD 3D, or other specialty viewing.
