Marvel Drops First Look Trailer for “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special”

It’s a big week for Marvel news. First a new “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” trailer, then the first trailer for “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” and today we get a first look at the upcoming “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.”

About the Special

In “The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special,” the Guardians are on a mission to make Christmas unforgettable for Peter Quill.

Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) isn’t feeling the Christmas spirit since he’s lost his love Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) during the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

As part of their quest, they travel to Earth in search of the perfect present…Kevin Bacon, Mr. Footloose himself.

Written and directed by James Gunn, this Christmas heist comedy falls after the events of “Thor: Love and Thunder,” but before the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3,” due in theaters May 5, 2023.

First announced in December 2020, the Marvel Studios Special Presentation stars Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff, and features Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket.

The special also stars Sean Gunn and The Old 97’s, with Michael Rooker and, of course, Kevin Bacon.

Kevin Feige, Gunn, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Sara Smith and Simon Hatt are the executive producers, with David J. Grant and Lars P. Winther serving as co-producers.

“The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special” will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, November 25, 2022.

This and “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3” will be the last we see of Gunn’s involvement with Marvel, as he was just named co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios.

The Trailer

As the trailer begins, we see the Guardians discussing how they can brighten up Quill’s mood with the perfect Christmas present.

Then Drax and Mantis put their plan into motion.
