While Walt Disney World has been bringing back many things to Disney’s Animal Kingdom this summer, news comes they will be ending the “KiteTails” show.
About The Show
“KiteTails” features larger-than-life kites and other colorful props that fly in the air around the Discovery River Lagoon to the music of beloved Disney songs.
The kites are influenced by both “The Lion King” and “The Jungle Book,” with aerial versions of Simba, Zazu, King Louie, Baloo, and more.
It debuted October 1, 2021, at the Discovery River Theater, and the show performs several times a day, weather permitting.
When Is the Last Day
According to the Disney website, the last day “KiteTails” will be performed is September 30, 2022.
That marks it’s first anniversary, if you’re keeping track.
Walt Disney World isn’t giving a reason for the end of the show. Since it was created as part of the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration, they could say that it was simply a limited-time show that has ended its run.
But I’m sure it doesn’t help that there were many times that kites weren’t easily controlled with the winds and ended up like this:
There is also no news about what, if anything, may be replacing the show. Any guesses?
At any rate, guests only have a little over two weeks to watch the final performances of “KiteTails” on the lagoon.
