Disney+ plans to debut the new live-action “Pinocchio” on September 8, and the streamer has dropped a new trailer, photos, and a poster for the film.
About the Movie
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, this live-action/CGI remake stars Disney Legend Tom Hanks as Geppetto, the lonely Italian woodcarver whose sole wish is to have a son.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth voices Pinocchio, the puppet who wants to be a real boy, and he’s joined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt who voices Jiminy Cricket.
Cynthia Erivo stars as the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key stars as “Honest” John, Lorraine Bracco portrays the new character Sofia the Seagull, and Luke Evans is The Coachman.
Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana, and Jaquita Ta’Le as her marionette Sabina, Giuseppe Battiston as Stromboli, and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.
The movie is based on the classic children’s novel “The Adventures of Pinocchio” written by Italian author Carlo Collodi, which in turn inspired the 1940 Disney animated classic, “Pinocchio.”
New Music
Songs from the original animated classic, including “When You Wish Upon a Star” performed by Erivo, will be in this new live-action film, but the soundtrack will also feature new, original songs composed by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard (“The Polar Express”).
The Trailer
This look at the film includes a better introduction to all of the characters, as well as a clearer look at how the CGI animation blends with the live actors and setting.
