Disney has announced its award-winning documentary “Mija,” will arrive on Disney+ on Friday, September 16, 2022.
About “Mija”
The Disney Original documentary follows two daughters of undocumented immigrants navigating the music industry.
“Mija” chronicles the emotional and complex stories of music manager Doris Muñoz and singer Jacks Haupt. For these two, “making it” isn’t just a dream, it’s a necessity.
Seeking to provide for their families while achieving their dreams, Muñoz and Haupt bond over the ever-present guilt of being the first American-born members of their undocumented families, along with the financial risks of pursuing their dreams.
The documentary is the debut feature of Mexican American filmmaker Isabel Castro, and premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
It also had a short theater run earlier this month so it could qualify for next year’s Oscars.

Disney+ has released a new trailer for the award-winning documentary in advance of its streamer debut.
