Amsterdam movie

Disney has announced it is giving a new release date to the 20th Century Studios/New Regency film “Amsterdam,” written and directed by David O. Russell.

The Details

When “Amsterdam” was first announced earlier this year at CinemaCon, the release date was listed as November 4, 2022.

However this week, Disney announced it has moved up the release date a month to October 7, 2022.

The previous date would have put it in box office contention with Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which hits theaters the following week on November 11. It’s only competition so far on the new date is a family film from Sony.

About “Amsterdam”

The latest film from acclaimed writer/director David O. Russell, “Amsterdam” weaves historical fact with fiction in an original crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.

The three friends are played by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington.

The strong supporting cast also includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Taylor Swift, Zoe SaldaƱa, Timothy Olyphant, Rami Malek, Robert De Niro, Alessandro Nivola, and Andrea Riseborough.

Early reviews are saying this could be an awards contender.
