We’re only a little over a month out from the start of Halloween festivities at Disneyland, and while we’ve talked about the “Oogie Boogie Bash,” there’s so much more coming to the resort.
Featuring seasonal décor, Halloween-themed attractions, photo opportunities with favorite Disney characters and villains, plus specialty treats and more, there is something for everyone during this spook-tacular celebration.
From September 2 through October 31, here is the Halloween fun guests can enjoy:
Disneyland Park
Throughout Disneyland Park, guests will encounter favorite Disney characters festively dressed in brand-new Halloween looks, including some villains.
Guests will also experience the Main Street Pumpkin Festival, which transforms Main Street, U.S.A. with whimsical pumpkins displayed in storefronts, while ghouls and goblins of all ages will enjoy taking photographs with the iconic giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin.
Over in New Orleans Square, the Haunted Mansion attraction undergoes its annual seasonal transformation. The mysterious manor conjures up the collision of two holidays to become Haunted Mansion Holiday, as Jack Skellington wrecks the halls of the mansion with frightfully festive decor inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Guests will also encounter Sally, Zero and other favorite characters from the film.
The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite parts of Halloween at Disneyland.
Finally, the park will host the return of the nighttime show “Halloween Screams,” a vibrant spooky projection and light show. On weekends, the show adds fireworks.
Viewing locations in the park include Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle and in front of “it’s a small world.”
Disney California Adventure
At the entrance to the park, Oogie Boogie, from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” will welcome guests at the entrance.
Plenty of photo ops can be found over on Buena Vista Street, where Mickey Mouse and friends summon the wardrobes of seasons past with old-fashioned Halloween styles, poised and ready for photos.
Guests who want to commemorate their Halloween time visit can stop for a photo in front of the 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman holding his jack-o’-lantern head high in the sky.
Plus, when the sun sets, the façade of Carthay Circle Restaurant comes alive with Halloween magic as bats swarm, green energy pulses from within and projections light up the iconic tower structure with mesmerizing moments.
Over in Cars Land, Radiator Springs becomes Radiator Screams, where the resident “car-acters” will transform their homes with unique Haul-O-Ween twists.
Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz and Red will be ready to greet guests in their best “car-stumes,” while “Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters” becomes “Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.”
And speaking of Mater, his Junkyard Jamboree opts for a spooky soundtrack to become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree.
Over in Avengers Campus, as night falls, “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!” transforms into “Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark,” an exciting and spooky adventure filled with creepy creatures and thrilling drops.
During the Guardians’ escape from The Collector’s Fortress, Groot was accidentally left behind, and guests can complete their rescue mission to save Groot by helping Rocket distract creatures from around the galaxy that have gotten loose.
Downtown Disney District
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, a family-friendly pumpkin hunt, will return to Downtown Disney from September 9 through October 31, 2022.
Pick up a game board and stickers for $9.99 plus tax at select merchandise locations, then have fun searching for hidden decorative pumpkins themed around Disney characters and placing the corresponding stickers on your game board.
When you’re done, return the game board to a redemption location for a prize.
