David Krumholtz Returns for Disney+ Series ‘The Santa Clauses’

The Santa Clause - Bernard

Disney+ has announced that actor David Krumholtz will return as fan favorite elf Bernard in the upcoming series, “The Santa Clauses.”

Bernard is Back!

Krumholtz reunites with Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell, who will once again play Scott Calvin/Santa and Carol Calvin/Mrs. Claus in the series, which is a continuation of the movie franchise.

Krumholtz first appeared as the slightly grumpy Bernard the Elf in the original 1994 film, and then returned for the sequel in 2002. He skipped the third film.

The Series

The series picks up with Scott Calvin on the brink of his 65th birthday.

Realizing he can’t be Santa forever as he suddenly starts to lose his Santa magic, he sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the North Pole.

Last month, for its “Christmas in July” promotion, Disney revealed a cast photo (sans Krumholtz) that also showed the Calvin children, played by Austin Kane and Elizabeth Allen Dick (who is Tim Allen’s real-life daughter).

Also in the photo is Kal Penn, who playing Simon Choski, a single father, ambitious game inventor, and product developer whose visit to the North Pole makes a big impact on the direction of his life, along with Rupali Redd playing his Santa-obsessed daughter Grace.

And Krumholtz won’t be the only elf, as he’s joined by Devin Bright as Noel, Santa’s trusted right-hand elf, and Matilda Lawler as Betty, Santa’s demanding Chief of Staff and job-oriented Elf.

The Release Date

At this time, Disney+ still hasn’t announced a release date, but we do know the series is already in production, so it might be this upcoming Holiday season.

  1. It’s always more enjoyable when the original cast returns. Bernard was definitely one of the faves from the original. This should be interesting to see.
