Disney Cruise Line to Livestream Disney Wish Christening June 29

Disney Wish

If you’ve been following the build of the Disney Wish, the ship gets christened on June 29, and Disney Cruise Line (DCL) is going to livestream the ceremony.

What to Expect

DCL, along with Disney Parks, will kick off the livestream at 11am ET on June 29.

It will offer a first look inside the finished ship at some of the ship’s most highly anticipated features.

Viewers will get to see AquaMouse, the first-ever Disney attraction at sea, along with first-of-their-kind dining adventures themed to “Frozen” and Marvel, an immersive lounge set in the Star Wars galaxy, and so much more.

There will also be spectacular performances, characters and more…this is Disney, after all.

Make-A-Wish Godchildren

Bucking the trend of having a ship Godmother to help christen a ship, Disney has chosen to honor Make-A-Wish Children as Godchildren of the Disney Wish.

This is the first time in Disney Cruise Line history that children are being recognized in this important role that symbolically bestows good fortune on a new ship.

They will join the fleet’s magical group of godmothers including Patty Disney, Tinker Bell, Jennifer Hudson and Mariah Carey.

Disney has also partnered with Make-A-Wish to create an exclusive line of merchandise that includes a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse plush, ear headband, trading pin, spirit jersey and tumbler.

Disney will donate 10% of the purchase price from the sale of every item in the ship’s Limited Edition Collection now through July 18, 2023, to Make-A-Wish to grant even more life-changing wishes.

The full Limited Edition Collection is available aboard the ship, and select items are available on shopDisney.com, beginning July 18, 2022.

About the Disney Wish

The Disney Wish will sail year-round from Port Canaveral, offering a series of three- and four-night Bahamas cruises to Nassau and Disney’s private island oasis, Castaway Cay, beginning July 14.

You can read our entire coverage of the Disney Wish to learn more about the ship and its features.

Arriving in Florida

The ship just arrived in Port Canaveral last week to much fanfare after sailing nearly 4,768 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean from Bremerhaven, Germany.

Mickey and Minnie were on board listening to “When You Wish Upon a Star” played from the horn when the ship sailed into port for the very first time.
