Walt Disney World has announced that Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be closing later this summer for refurbishment.
Kona Cafe will be closed starting August 15, 2022, for an unspecified amount of time, most likely at least into September.
The good news is the Kona Island Coffee & Sushi Bar will still be open all day, and Disney says guests can use the Mobile Order service through the My Disney Experience app to order select breakfast, lunch, and dinner offerings from Kona Cafe and pick them up at Kona Island.
All I’m saying is Tonga Toast better be one of those select dishes.
There is no word on any major changes that will be done, so it sounds like this will just be a spruce up for this busy dining location at the Polynesian.
Reservations can still be make for Kona Cafe until August 14, 2022.
As soon as we hear of a reopen date for the restaurant, we’ll let you know, but until then you can still pick up your favorites to go from Kona Island, at least.
And of course there are other dining options at Disney’s Polynesian, including ‘Ohana, and Capt. Cook’s, as well as nearby options at Disney’s Grand Floridian and Disney’s Contemporary Resorts.
Hoping it’s open again before my trip later this year….need my Tonga Toast. While yes, Captain Cook has Tonga Toast they don’t have the strawberry purée which is what I use.
