Get ready for the next generation of super attractions, heroic moments with Marvel Superheroes, new shopping and dining, and plenty of surprises when the first-ever Marvel-themed universe in Europe, Marvel Avengers Campus, opens on July 20, 2022.
Opening in Walt Disney Studios park, which has been busy with an ambitious expansion and transformation, Marvel Avengers Campus will add new heroic and fun adventures to your Disneyland Paris vacation.
What is Marvel Avengers Campus?
Created for those who have dreamed of taking part in the adventures of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and living out their own heroic story. Marvel Avengers Campus is dedicated to discovering, recruiting and training the next generation of Heroes.
Disney Imagineering has released a sneak preview of the upcoming new land.
The area will feature:
- A roller coaster attraction exclusive to Disneyland Paris, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force.
- Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure is similar to the attraction that’s already open at Disney California Adventure
- Three dining experiences: Pym Kitchen, Stark Factory, and The WEB.
- Meet and Greets in a dedicated building that features opportunities to meet your favorite heroes including Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel.
- Unique photopass experiences that can turn your encounters with Iron Man or Captain Marvel into unforgettable memories.
- Marvel wants you to know that saving the world can also be fun. Recruits will have a chance to try on their best dance moves during an interactive dance-off with Star Lord and Gamora from the Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Along your own hero’s journey, you will encounter training opportunities. One such group is Black Panther’s loyal protectors, the Dora Milaje. The warriors of Wakanda will show you what it’s like to be a member of this elite royal guard.
- And a new store called Mission Equipment where you can pick up supplies and accessories needed to augment your visit.
- Lastly: If you’re looking for a place to stay on your visit, don’t overlook the recently reimagined Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.
With these experiences, everyone is invited to join the action in true SuperHero fashion.
The backstory behind Avengers Campus
The Avengers Campus started as a Paris-based S.H.I.E.L.D. secret location created by Tony Stark’s father, Howard. The complex is full of laboratories, workshops, and a new Headquarters where the Avengers and their allies work together on new ways to help humanity.
According to the Walt Disney Imagineers, the Avengers Campus was created by Tony Stark himself to discover, recruit and train the next generation of Super Heroes. That’s you.
Tony carried on the legacy of his father’s work and reinvented the facility into a place where everyone can lend a hand to Marvel’s most iconic superheroes.
Regardless of whether you are a long-standing Marvel fan or just a casual Marvel fan, once you enter Avengers Campus, you will be encouraged to take the next step in your own heroic journey!
To make it feel authentic to the expanded Marvel universe, Imagineers brought in experts who worked on the Avengers movies, television series, and comic books to make sure the new land is a truly immersive super heroic adventure.
About Avengers Assemble: Flight Force
The high-speed roller coaster will take you on a mission with none other than Captain Marvel herself and the one and only Iron Man.
After a briefing from Iron Man, sporting his brand-new Mark 80 armor designed for this mission, you will board your ride vehicle for a daring mission to save planet Earth.
The roller coaster will take you on a thrilling ride that features a launch of 0-60 MPH in less than 3 seconds, three inversions, two rollover loops, and one corkscrew. If that sounds familiar to you it’s because the coaster was previously the Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster attraction.
There is a height requirement of 120 cm, equivalent to 47 inches in order to ride.
Fun facts about Avengers Assemble: Flight Force
- Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson is reprising her role as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.
- The Iron Man in Avengers Assemble: Flight Force is a new generation Audio-Animatronic figure exclusive to Disneyland Paris and the first Avenger Audio-Animatronic in a Disney Park.
About Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure
Recruits of all ages can join Spider-Man and help capture out-of-control Spider-bots before they wreck havoc on the Campus. Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure is a gesture based attraction where you use web-slinging superpowers to hit targets on a screen as you ride through the story.
This attraction is very popular at Disney California Adventure in that it has no height restrictions and is fairly easy to understand and use by the entire party. By the end you do feel like a superhero web-slinger as your total of Spider-bots caught is revealed.
Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker in this action-packed adventure. The actor also filmed new scenes for the Disneyland Paris attraction.
The magic leveraged by Imagineers includes infrared cameras on the WEB Slinger vehicles to assess and analyze the actions of guests 60 times per second, tracking eye position, shoulders, elbows, and wrists. The attraction identifies when guests move their arms and maps out the geometry of their web sling, rendering a 3D web in the interactive gameplay.
As recruits you will wear 3D glasses in order to fully enjoy the blend of physical, fully dimensional sets and virtual environments in the interactive attraction.
As Disneyland Paris celebrates its 30th anniversary, it is in the middle of a long transformation. The opening of Marvel Avengers Campus on June 20, 2022 is a big step in the two-billion euro, multi-year project at Walt Disney Studios Park.
