Lightyear

Disney and Pixar have released a “special look” trailer for this summer’s “Lightyear” movie, along with a new poster.

The trailer provides new details about the film’s plot and characters.

“This suit means something. It’s not just protecting your body, it’s protecting the universe,” Buzz says as he prepares for a mission.

A mission that lands him in the future, forcing him to team with a band of rookies to defeat the evil Zurg.

Disney*Pixar’s “Lightyear” is in U.S. theaters on June 17, 2022.

It will mark the first Pixar film to hit theaters since “Onward” in 2020. “Soul,” “Luca,” and “Turning Red” all premiered on Disney+.

The film features the voices of Chris Evans as accomplished Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, Uzo Aduba as his commander and best friend Alisha Hawthorne and Peter Sohn as Sox. Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi and Dale Soules lend their voices to the Junior Zap Patrol’s Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison and Darby Steel, respectively, and James Brolin can be heard as the enigmatic Zurg.

“Lightyear” is directed by Angus MacLane (co-director “Finding Dory”), who confirmed yesterday the film is finished:

A 30-minute preview was shown at last month’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas to extremely positive reviews, and the film will have its French premiere at the Annecy Festival for animation.
