Disney+ Releases New Trailer and Poster for Upcoming ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Series on #StarWarsDay

Obi-Wan Kenobi

It’s #StarWarsDay, so what better time for Disney+ and LucasFilm to release a new trailer for the upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series.

And what a trailer it is!

Starting with the sands of Tatooine wiping away the LucasFilm logo, we see Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) following the events on Mustafar, on the run with the Sith duo of the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend) and Inquisitor Reva (Moses Ingram) tracking him down with the help of numerous bounty hunters.

Choosing to hide on Tatooine to keep tabs on a young Luke Skywalker, he clashes with Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton) on how best to raise the young Jedi.

“When the time comes, he must be trained,” Obi-Wan passionately states. Owen hits back with, “Like you trained his father?”

Ouch!

We see other characters, including Kumail Nanjiani playing a human-like role, wearing garb that looks suspiciously like a Jedi robe.

Then the trailer ends with the familiar breathing, and a visual of the chest panel, of a certain Sith Lord (Hayden Christensen).

Disney+ has also released a new moody poster featuring Obi-Wan overlaid with Darth Vader that places the Sith Lord right where Kenobi’s heart would be:

“Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the six-part limited series, premieres on Disney+ May 27 with the first two episodes. Following the launch, the series will stream weekly on Wednesdays, until the finale on Wednesday, June 22.

The series stars Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, reprising their roles as the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader.

Also cast are Kumail Nanjiani, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

Are you looking forward to “Obi-Wan Kenobi”? I sure am. I’ve always wondered about the Jedi’s years before we first meet him on Tatooine in “Star Wars: A New Hope”. I’m also a fan of a lot of the actors in this series, plus the effects look film quality.
