We have some great news for Star Wars fans visiting Walt Disney World the next few months: a Meta Quest 2 preview of “Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge” will be held at Disney Springs West Side from May 2 through July 21, 2022.
The preview is complimentary, and will showcase a short version of ILMxLAB’s virtual reality experience “Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge,” which expands the world of Batuu like never before.
The adventure takes place on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, which you may be familiar with from “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” the immersive epic land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort, along with Disneyland in California
In this preview of the full virtual reality experience, step inside Seezelslak’s cantina in Black Spire Outpost to encounter Mubo and Seezelslak, test your skills with Repulsor Darts, and play the chromarimba.
Next, head to the wilds outside Black Spire Outpost to face off against the Guavian Death Gang, a criminal organization in operation roughly thirty years after the Battle of Endor (“Return of the Jedi”).
Guavian Death Gang soldiers undergo cybernetic augmentation, with a mechanical reservoir and pump injecting chemicals into their bloodstreams to enhance speed and aggression. They are silent in battle, communicating via high-frequency datastreams.
This original story features both new and iconic characters from the Star Wars galaxy. It also includes multiple styles of gameplay and difficulty settings to accommodate a wide variety of players, including Star Wars fans and virtual reality gamers.
The Meta Quest VR preview will be held in the building that formerly housed the “NBA Experience” and “DisneyQuest” (across from the House of Blues). It will be open daily from noon to 10pm.
Advance reservations are not available for this preview. On the day you wish to participate in the experience, a Meta staff member at the location will help you either reserve a time to come back to participate, or direct you to a queue outside the building, based on availability.
Those who attend on May 4 (“May the 4th Be With You” Day) can also receive an exclusive poster featuring the Guavian Death Gang cell operating on Batuu, and their merciless leader, Tara Rashin.
