It’s official…”Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain” will reopen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this Saturday, April 16, 2022.
Walt Disney World temporarily closed the attraction for an annual refurbishment on January 4 of this year, with a projected reopening “mid-April 2022.”
This included a software update, but no changes were made to the ride itself.
Sadly, no news to report on if the Yeti will ever be fixed. Hopefully they did pick up all those hair ties. Please don’t litter on Disney attractions.
Some guests became concerned recently when the attraction page on the Disney website replaced that projected date with “Please check back here for updates.”
But I’m happy to report Walt Disney World is indeed keeping to its schedule and the busy Easter crowds will once again be able to enjoy this thrilling coaster.
Also, when the attraction reopens, “Expedition Everest” will be added to Disney Genie+ service through August 7, 2022, instead of remaining an individual Lightning Lane purchase.
Just an FYI…Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Frozen Ever After at EPCOT, and Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom are also being added to Disney Genie+ service through August 7.
Expedition Everest is the tallest roller coaster at any Disney theme park. It was also the first Disney coaster to travel forward and backwards in the same ride.
