Today Marvel Studios is introducing its newest superhero to the MCU with this first trailer for the Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel.”

The series follows Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a 16-year-old Pakistani-American from Jersey City, New Jersey, who idolizes The Avengers, especially Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel.

A great student, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she struggles to fit in at home and at school…that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.

As Ms. Marvel, Khan’s primary super power is ability to shape shift. She can transform her body, or parts of it, to aid her exploits. Kamala usually uses this power to elongate her limbs or enlarge her fists.

She also possesses the ability to self-heal, and can recover from serious injuries when she reverts back to her original self.

“It’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who get to save the world,” Kamala Khan muses in the first trailer from “Ms. Marvel,” which is set to “Blinded by the Light” by The Weeknd.

The cast also includes Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Anjali Bhimani, and Nimra Bucha.

Episodes are directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and the show’s head-writer Bisha K. Ali are the executive producers.
