‘Encanto,”Shang-Chi,”What If…?’ Win 2022 Annie Awards

2022 Annie Awards

The 49th Annual Annie Awards were held last night, and “Encanto,” Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” and Marvel’s “What If…?” won awards for Disney.

The awards are presented by The International Animated Film Society – Hollywood branch (ASIFA-Hollywood), and recognize the year’s best in animated fare across movies, TV, and video games.

“Encanto” was nominated for many categories, but faced stiff competition from the Netflix-Sony Pictures Animation film, “The Mitchells vs. the Machines,” which was the leader in Annie Award wins last night.

This sets up an interesting situation at the upcoming Oscars, where the two films are competing for Best Animated Feature.
