We’re getting closer to the release date of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” and a new IMAX trailer has just been released.
The sequel was filmed by director Sam Raimi entirely in IMAX and will feature the format’s extended screen ratio from beginning to end.
This new trailer is similar to the last trailer released during the Super Bowl, but there are a few slightly extended scenes.
Here is the IMAX trailer:
We also see a little more of new character America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), along with more battle scenes involving Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen).
And yes, that is Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his X-Men role of the elder Professor Charles Xavier (we hear his voice saying “We should tell him the truth.”). At first Steward denied it, but later admitted it was him in an interview for “Jakes Takes” on YouTube.
Whether this is THE Professor X or an alternate universe variant isn’t clear, but this could be the introduction of the Illuminati.
In the comics, this was a secret organization comprised of several of the greatest minds in the universe who worked together to bring a level of law & order to the superhuman and alien community.
The group was assembled by Tony Stark (lending credence to the rumors of an appearance by an alternate universe version not played by Robert Downey, Jr.), and included: Professor X; Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans; Reed Richards, founding member of the Fantastic Four; and Namor the Sub-Mariner, King of Atlantis.
“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” will hit U.S. theaters on May 6, 2022.
