Earlier this month, there was a rumor the new “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series on Disney+ would premiere in May 2022, and it appears the rumor was correct as an official date for the show was released today.
Mark your viewing calendars as “Obi-Wan Kenobi” will start May 25, 2022.
Actor Ewan McGregor, is returning as the title Jedi, along with Hayden Christensen, who is reprising the Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader role.
Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
Not much is known about the story, except that it will be set ten years after the events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith,” but before the events of “Rogue One” and “Star Wars: A New Hope.”
May is also when Marvel Comics is releasing “Star Wars: Obi-Wan,” a five-issue series that finds an older Kenobi remembering adventures from his older days. No word if this will tie into the Disney+ series.
In addition to announcing the series premiere date, Disney+ also released a poster for the show:
