Pixar - Lightyear

This morning Pixar announced the release date for this summer’s “Lightyear” animated movie, along with the film’s first full trailer and a new poster.

The film is an origin story about the “Toy Story” character of Buzz Lightyear, that tells the story of the actual hero that inspired the toy.

In the animated film, actor Chris Evans goes from Avenger to Space Ranger as he voices the human Buzz Lightyear. Peter Sohn voices Sox, Buzz’s robot companion, and Keke Palmer, Dale Soules and Taika Waititi voice a group of ambitious recruits. The cast also includes the voices of Uzo Aduba, James Brolin, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

Annie Award-winning director and veteran Pixar animator Angus MacLane will helm the film.

Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille”) will score the film, and the “Lightyear Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” will be available from Walt Disney Records on the movie’s release date.

Can’t wait to see it? The film will be in theaters June 17, 2022!
