LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish to Headline Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’ Movie Reboot

Haunted Mansion

Disney’s upcoming live-action reboot of the “Haunted Mansion” movie has found its leading actors in LaKeith Stanfield And Tiffany Haddish, with Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, and Rosario Dawson also starring.

The Haunted Mansion ride debuted in 1969, and Disney previously adapted the ride into a 2003 movie starring Eddie Murphy, that had moderate box office success.

Very little is known about the story, but from what I can piece together, the film will be about a family who inhabits a haunted manor, and their experience with supernatural forces.

Gabbie, a single mother, hires a grieving widower who works as a ghost tour guide, along with a psychic, a priest, and a local historian to exorcise the vengeful spirit from the Haunted Mansion.

Justin Simien (“Dear White People”) is directing, with a script from Katie Dippold (“Parks and Recreation”). The film is currently shooting in Atlanta with no release date on the books.

LaKeith Stanfield is one of the stars of FX’s “Atlanta” series, and most recently appeared on the big screen in “Judas and the Black Messiah,” which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

Tiffany Haddish appears on TV in the series “The Last O.G.” on TBS, along with voicing Tuca in “Tuca and Bertie” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. On film she has starred in “Girl’s Trip,” “Like A Boss,” and “Night School,” among others.

Owen Wilson has a long history in film, and most recently appeared in the Disney+ series, “Loki.”

Rosario Dawson has also had a long history in film and TV, most recently earning raves for Hulu’s “Dopesick” series.

Danny DeVito has done many projects for Disney, most recently in Tim Burton’s live-action “Dumbo” movie.

How do you feel about this casting? Are you a fan of the original film with Murphy? Do you think it needs to be remade? Let me know in comments what you think.
